An American actor born in the Bronx, New York, but raised in Oregon, where his parents moved when he was six months old. He is of Ukrainian and Irish descent. He attended Lake Oswego High School in Oregon and then Portland State University for a year and a half before dropping out to pursue acting. He studied acting at the William Esper Studio in New York. Among his notable credits are Love (2015), Devs (2020), and The Bikeriders (2023). He married actress Zoë Kravitz from 2019 till 2021.
